The S. T. E. name and crest symbolize science, technology, and education.  It is the first and only national Greek letter fraternity assisting industrial, education and social science undergraduate professionals.

Sigma Tau Epsilon was founded September 16th 1967 at East Texas State University by Dale Truitt.  He founded the organization for the purpose of unifying the disiplines of industrial arts, education, science, and technology for a common purpose of enhancing professionalism. 

The Rho Chapter was founded in 1973 by Fredrick McIver on the campus of Alabama A&M University.  Since then the Rho Chapter has metriculated on campus providing greater understanding of professionalism to all of its members.
